The Ryohin Keikaku Group outsources the manufacturing and production of its products to production partners, including contract factories in Japan and other countries and regions around the world. In addition, the cooperation of our business partners is essential for the transportation and management of our products. We established the Code of Conduct for Production Partners in order to build good partnerships based on mutual trust and to fulfill our responsibility to ensure fair, safe, and healthy working conditions and in consideration for the natural environment throughout the supply chain.
Code of Conduct for Production Partners
The Code of Conduct for Production Partners, established in July 2020, is based on the ten principles of the United Nations Global Compact and the core labor standards of the International Labour Organization (ILO). It is a successor to both the Environment, Labor and Safety Management Guidelines (formulated in 2007) and the Basic Policy on Environment, Labor and Safety (formulated in 2015) of Ryohin Keikaku. We request all partners to whom we outsource production to sign a pledge to comply with the code of conduct, and contract only with those who do so. In addition, the code prohibits subcontracting to factories without prior approval, and requires production partners to obtain such approval. We also monitor working conditions at production partner factories in accordance with the code of conduct. This code of conduct, available in Japanese, English and Chinese, is published on our website and distributed to all production partners involved in manufacturing worldwide. We also provide explanations to ensure thorough understanding and compliance. The code of conduct covers the following provisions based on compliance with the relevant laws and regulations and taking into account international treaties and standards. It will be revised in line with changes in international standards.
