Ryohin Keikaku Co., Ltd.

Ryohin Keikaku and Sustainability

Message from the President

Ryohin Keikaku has been committed to socially and environmentally conscious manufacturing since the launch of MUJI in 1980, focusing on the three principles of selection of materials, streamlining of processes and simplification of packaging.

Since its “Second Founding” in 2021, Ryohin Keikaku has aimed to become a leader in ESG management by 2030, advancing Company-wide initiatives centered on ESG in products, ESG in business activities and ESG in communities.

Specifically, the Company has made steady progress in building business models that contribute to resource circulation, such as expanding the lineup of products made from natural materials and collecting and reusing clothing and plastic items. Furthermore, Ryohin Keikaku has further developed its approach to independent store management in order to take root in local society, promoted initiatives for social good and established a structure for every division to take ownership in advancing the concept of ESG as a core business based on its four material issues.

Ryohin Keikaku will continue to contribute to building a sustainable society while achieving circularity, and coexisiting with nature through its products, services, stores and business activities. Based on Ryohin Keikaku’s core value of “contributing to society and people,” the Company strives to respond sensitively to current issues together with its employees and business partners—focusing on reducing environmental impact and respecting individuality throughout the entire lifecycle of all products and services.
