Our Approach to Product Development

On May 30, 2025, we held an "ESG Briefing Session" for institutional investors and media representatives.
Under our philosophy of "Core Business = ESG Management," presentations were given by the President and executive officers of each division. These covered Muji's fundamental ideas of manufacturing, unchanged since our founding in 1980, the business potential of resource circulation, and "Environmentally and Socially Responsible Products" across our apparel, household goods and food divisions.

We define "Environmentally and Socially Responsible Products" as items that select materials mindful of the global environment and producers, eliminate waste throughout all processes, minimize environmental impact across the entire product lifecycle, and consider impacts on biodiversity, human rights, and safety.
At the ESG briefing session, we introduced these products through actual displays and tastings.
