MUJI STAY is an initiative aimed at redefining the concept of "living," by challenging the traditional ideas of accommodations and homes, it aims to reshape how we live. Using unused spaces and resources, it creates places to stay—whether in cities, the countryside, in Japan or abroad——so that people can lead a life that truly reflects who they are. Starting from MUJI stores located across various regions, MUJI STAY incorporates local materials, techniques, and experiences based on the unique climate, culture, and customs of each area, allowing visitors to discover new regional charms. At the same time, we provide spaces and daily necessities designed under a thoughtfully design philosophy, ensuring that people can comfortably continue their way of living—regardless of the region or living environment.
Highlight a region’s unused resources such as abandoned houses, vacant facilities, and untapped natural areas, and make the most of the inherent value
Extend Everyday Living
Create spaces that incorporate MUJI products and interiors, allowing the value of daily life to be experienced even while traveling
Use Stores as Hubs
MUJI stores located throughout Japan are positioned to serve as front desks for places of stay.
Create Local Employment
The goal is to help local people and workers use their talents and skills to become leaders who represent and support the way of life in their communities
Highlight Local Culture
Create opportunities to feel and experience the unique food, culture, history and climate of the region
MUJI Accommodations
MUJI HOTEL
Showcase of Living with MUJI
Based on MUJI’s simple and functional values, MUJI HOTEL offers accommodations that provide comfort as an extension of daily life even while traveling.
MUJI BASE
Base for Experiencing Local Culture
MUJI BASE is a lifestyle hub rooted in the local community, proposed by MUJI. Under the concept of “a base for experiencing local culture,” it offers visitors a chance to live in harmony with nature and enjoy lifestyles while experiencing local culture and ingredients. It aims to be a place to experience calm daily life away from the city and rediscover the charm of the region.
MUJI room
A Platform for Co-creating New Ways of Living
MUJI room is a co-creative accommodation space developed in collaboration with people in local communities. Based on the concept of A platform for co-creating new ways of living, it renovates existing hotels, ryokans (Japanese-style inns) and vacation homes to create spaces where guests can experience MUJI’s way of living. This project requires a relatively small investment for local operators, and we work together to create new attractions in the area, expanding opportunities for visitors to experience local value.
MUJI Camp
A Place for Cultivating Living Skills
MUJI Camp was opened in 1995 with the concept of Enjoying nature just as it is. Rather than offering excessive services, MUJI Camp aims to create campgrounds where visitors can fully experience and appreciate the natural environment and local characteristics in their purest form.
